The Decision Card Count is in! – Freetown, Sierra Leon

post by Daniel Kolenda on April 30th, 2012

We’ve received the wonderful report that 301,790 people returned completed decision cards at our most recent campaign in Freetown, Sierra Leone indicating that they have made a decision to follow Jesus. These individuals have now been entered into our follow up system and local churches will be overflowing with new converts.

Thank you for standing with us to make this campaign possible. We are now trusting the Lord for the finance for our next campaign in Uganda. Please continue to pray with us that every need would be met.

GO!!

October 22nd, 2010

The first word of the Great Commission is, “GO…”When Jesus used fishing as a metaphor for Evangelism, he revealed to us something about his chosen model and paradigm. What does evangelism mean to Jesus? To be a “fisher of men” implies releasing the moorings from the bollard, pulling back the anchor, pushing away from the shore and launching out into the deep. “The Son of Man”, He said of Himself, “Has COME to SEEK…” Now, to us He says, you “GO” and seek.

Juxtapose the Jesus way to the preferred method of most Christians today. It is what I call “Spider web Evangelism” because as the spider loiters in her web, many Christians crouch in their churches every Sunday waiting and praying that some hapless sinner might wander in so that the pastor can pounce on them. But the word, “GO” necessarily implies action, initiative and movement. There is no way to “Go” while we stay! To “GO” requires less talk and more walk, less intention and more action. There is no shortcut, free-ride or easy way to evangelism. Ultimately we will either “GO” to win the lost or we will supplement our sedentary fruitlessness with a myriad of programs, seminars, conferences, excuses and explanations. In the end we may discover that working so hard to appear artificially effectual was a greater expenditure of energy than actually going would have been…..(continued)

Extraordinary Hunger – Akure, Nigeria – Day 5

October 17th, 2010

Today there was a massive thunderstorm in the afternoon and I wondered if anyone would brave the weather to attend the open-air meeting. When we pulled up to the swampy field, where the rain was still drizzling and saw over 160,000 people gathered, standing in the mud I was so touched. Rev. Peter Van den berg, who has been the vice-president of CfaN for 30-years said that it was the muddiest crusade field he has ever seen! Yet the people were not hindered. It is really a vivid testimony to the extraordinary hunger of the people and I am sure that Heaven has taken note.

The Mysterious Bird – Akure, Nigeria – Day 4

October 17th, 2010

Tonight the crowd grew to 185,000 and the meeting started out with a dynamic testimony of a man who had been a witchdoctor when Reinhard Bonnke and the CfaN team came to Ilorin, Nigeria in 1990. He told us that he was a very evil man who specialized in black magic and death, but He said that once the Crusade started his business dropped off because his customers had become Christians at the Bonnke Crusade. He was furious and came to curse Bonnke, but he ended up getting saved instead! The next night he loaded a truck with piles of witchcraft items, charms, fetishes and ritualistic tools and brought them to the crusade field to be burned. Today, 20-years later, the witchdoctor is still serving the Lord and now travels around Nigeria as an evangelist!

The Curses Broken – Akure, Nigeria – Day 3

October 15th, 2010

I preached about the power of the blood of Jesus and after leading thousands in the prayer of salvation we appropriated the power of that blood breaking every curse over the people and the land in the name of Jesus! The people brought piles of occult charms, fetishes and “juju” to be burned just like in Acts 19:19 and as the flames leaped skyward the huge crowd looked like a boiling sea as the people danced and sang in freedom.

Surrendering All to Jesus – Akure, Nigeria/Day 2

October 15th, 2010

Almost every person who testified tonight said that they had gone to witchdoctors to be cured and many of them had only gotten worse. Tomorrow night we will begin burning witchcraft items; idols, charms and fetishes and we believe that many will be set free as they surrender all to Jesus. Please continue to pray for Akure, that Jesus will break every stronghold and deliver from every bondage.

Tonight was the opening meeting of our campaign here in Akure, Nigeria were over 70,000 people attended including the Governor of Ondo State and the king. There is a palpable sense of anticipation for what the Lord will do here over the next few days and tonight we had a taste of what is to come.
