Goodbye – From Burkina Faso (VIDEO)

post by Daniel Kolenda on January 30th, 2012

Our Gospel Campaign in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, is now over. Hundreds of thousands responded to the call for salvation, many wonderful miracles took place, and the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the multitudes. We are rejoicing! I am just about to meet with some of the local pastors and government officials and soon I will be headed home. But before I go I wanted to share this special video message with you from the field last night. Thank you again for all the prayer and love.

Come Away (by Eric William Gilmour)

January 4th, 2012

Some people always have something good to say because they are overflowing with a heart ablaze for Jesus. My friend and fellow evangelist Eric Gilmour is one of those people. Today we are together in Charlottle, North Carolina having rich and wonderful time of fellowship. I asked him to share with us what is on his heart and he gave me the following. It will stir you!

COME AWAY

We cannot rightly say, “I am His,” until we truly believe, “He is mine.” God has given Himself to us. The spread arms of Christ on the cross are not only a picture of His openness to all but also the total gift of Himself to us. In Song of Songs 2.10 we see the Beloved, a picture of Christ, saying to His bride, a picture of the Church, “Arise, my love my fair one and come away.” This sentence has two commands in it, “arise” and “come away.”

Back in the Saddle!

January 2nd, 2012

To all my fellow blognaggians – I’ve missed you! Over the past several months I’ve had my nose to the grindstone toiling over a new book that will be released with Charisma next year. Now that that labor of love is finished, I am happy to report that, in the inauguration of this new year, I am climbing back into the blogging saddle – with a few extra treats in the goodie bag! Lots of multimedia; audio and video will be coming your way this year along with my regular, (almost daily) devotionals and reports from the field. I hope that you will follow along, interact and remember to pray for us.

A Climactic Conclusion – Okigwe, Nigeria – Day 5

July 31st, 2011

We have just returned from the final service of the Great Gospel Campaign here in Okigwe, Nigeria Tonight the crowd grew to 300,000 and the atmosphere was charged with faith and expectation. Thousands were saved and many miracles took place…it was truly a climatic conclusion!

This is the rainy season here in West Africa and for several weeks before we came, there were torrential downpours everyday, to the point that some of our planning team was becoming very concerned. Yet, not one meeting was rained out this week. The only rain we experienced were the showers of blessings that poured down from Heaven and we are all soaked! (…Continued)

Cain&Able

When Your Best is Not Good Enough

March 3rd, 2011

One night, in family devotions, I was reading to my kids from a Bible storybook about Cain and Abel. In this author’s rendition of the story, Cain’s offering was rejected because it was not his best, while Abel’s offering was the best he had to give and therefore acceptable to God. It suddenly hit me like a ton of bricks…this writer missed the entre point of the Biblical story! In fact, I believe the reality is quite the opposite.

Cain was a “tiller of the ground”. His days consisted of backbreaking manual labor and he earned every morsel with the “sweat of his brow”. When asked to bring a sacrifice to God, he must have surely thought that his offering would be the best in God’s sight. Cain’s offering was the hard earned fruit of his labor, the work of his own blistered hands.

But, in spite of all Cain’s striving, God rejected his offering. The Bible says, “Cain was exceedingly angry and his countenance fell” (Gen 4:5). Cain was so frustrated and angry because he had indeed brought his best to God…and yet his best was not good enough. God said, “If you do well, will you not be accepted?” “Do well?” Cain must have thought. “I’ve done the best I can do.” Perhaps Cain knew in his heart that he had worked longer and harder than Able ever did. Through sweat, tears and hard manual labor Cain had worked the thorny soil to bring this offering to the Lord. Yet God was pleased with Abel’s gift and not his own. Cain could not understand and soon his frustration boiled over into murderous rage.

A Climactic Conclusion! – Lome, Togo – Day 5

February 28th, 2011

Another evangelistic campaign has just come to a climactic conclusion. Tonight the field was teaming with people pressed into the limited venue with up to 8 people per square meter! You may have noticed the stadium next to our field and wondered why we were not holding the meetings there. The truth is that we could have filled that stadium nearly 4 times over with the crowd that was there just tonight!

After preaching the Gospel and praying the prayer of salvation, we prayed for the people to receive “The Promise of the Father”; the baptism into the Holy Spirit. Jesus touched many people filling them and also healing them.

A woman who had a lemon sized tumor in her right breast for 3 years said that during the prayer she felt the lump leave her body. When she checked herself it was totally gone!

Gospel of Peace – Lome, Togo – Day 4

February 27th, 2011

I had an overwhelming sense tonight of how sacred the work is that we’re doing here in Togo. I preached about the blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of sins and thousands responded to the message. Then I talked about the obligation that we, who have been forgiven, have to extend forgiveness to others. I saw how many wept as they prayed a prayer of forgiveness.

This is the Gospel that we preach; a Gospel of peace, forgiveness, repentance, restitution and love.

Then I began to pray against the curses in the land; curses that many of the locals are afraid to mention aloud. I called them by their local names and took authority over them in the name of Jesus. Romans 16:20 came flooding into my spirit; “…The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.”

Satan’s power was broken tonight; crushed by a God of peace, forgiveness and love.

A Preacher’s Paradise – Lome, Togo – Day 3

February 25th, 2011

What a joy it is to preach to the people here in Lome, Togo. This is a preacher’s paradise! The people are so hungry, so responsive and so attentive. It is no wonder that Jesus responds to them with such wonderful miracles.

A local worship pastor told us that one year ago he was singing and suddenly his voice was gone. For the past year he has not been able to sing or speak, but tonight, he said that as the prayer for the sick he felt what he described as “a washing” on his throat and vocal cords. Suddenly he realized he could speak, shout and sing! When he gave his testimony I handed the mic to him and told him to sing to the Lord. The tears rolled down his cheeks as he worshipped with his voice for the first time in months.

A little boy who was deaf and dumb from birth was brought by his next door neighbor tonight. After the prayer for the sick, the neighbor turned to the boy and asked, “Can you hear me?” The little boy replied, “YES!” I tested him on the platform and was amazed at how well he could hear and speak.

The Pure Gospel – Lome, Togo – Day 2

February 25th, 2011

Just moments ago we returned from tonight’s meeting with joy. Evangelist Bonnke preached about “The Adulterous Woman” and the very eager and hungry crowd was hanging on every word. He told them that under the Law of Moses, that adulterous woman should have been stoned. The reason that Jesus could pardon her is that he was already on his way to the cross where he would take her punishment and pay the price for her sin. It was a powerful and holy moment when tens of thousands lifted their hands and accepted by faith the substitutionary death of Christ. This is the pure Gospel at work.

This is what has the power to change the world!

When I prayed for the sick we experienced an outpouring of the power of God. A couple of times I said, “This will be the last testimony we hear tonight”, but amazing stories kept on coming and I could not resist!
